Read-A-Thon

Read-A-Thon!

Dear Parents,
5th grade is having a read-a-thon on Friday, December 19th.  This will be an all day event where students bring pillows, blankets, and books.  We will have breaks throughout the day to play some team building activities and games.  In order for students to be able to participate in this exciting event they have to meet the following requirements:

1.     Correct all daily work assignments to perfection
2.     Turn in all assignments
3.     Have a 70% or higher on quizzes and tests (unless otherwise told)
4.     Have a C or better in all areas of school

Your child was informed before Thanksgiving Break so they had time to earn the read-a-thon.  If you have any questions please feel free to let me know!

September 15th Update

We are off to a great start in 5A!  We were lucky enough to have warm weather at Mallo Camp, the group after saw some snow, and are getting our MAP testing done.  Our testing dates for MAP are 9/15, 9/16, 9/18, and 9/19 after lunch.  The students are also working on their Mallo Camp tests and will begin building a habitat for a special class pet by September 17th.  In math we are working through Chapter 1 focusing on Whole Numbers, and Social Studies we are looking into the Native Peoples of North America.  I am excited about our opinion writing and working on comprehension in reading.  Check back soon for more updates!

2014 - 2015 School Year

I am getting excited about the upcoming school year and teaching 5th grade!  To get ready for it, I have started reading the Indian Paintbrush Nominees for the year.  If you would like to check them out here is the website http://www.wyla.org/indian-paintbrush-award-books you will have to scroll down to find the books for this year.  Don't forget to get to the store and pick up your school supplies.  I have also been enjoying my summer playing tennis, hiking, and trying to golf.    Hopefully you all have been having a great summer, and the nice weather we are having today will stay.  I will see you on August 27th!
